They fixed the issue through support for something called precision tracking, and apparently, they coincidentally just released support for that. Do this until it says that there are no more updates.

If there are any remaining updates, install them then restart again.

After the restart, open Apple Software Update again and check for updates. Be sure to restart now instead of putting it off later.

Thank you so much! Running Apple Software Update really fixed the problem! For me, the update that fixed this issue was Boot Camp Update, Version 6.1.15.įor anyone that needs extra details, basically, here they are: after you have Windows Bootcamp running, first make sure you launch Apple Software Update (search for it using the Start menu by clicking the Command button, which is like the Windows button), then install the items that need to be updated by clicking "Install x items." It will then ask you to restart.

If you can help, I will be tremendously grateful. Maybe it'll be fixed in a software update soon, but for now I'm just hoping someone knows a way to reset the part of the computer that causes the unwanted scrolling so I don't have to restart my computer several times in an afternoon. I'm thinking it has to be a software problem. I have an external monitor plugged in, so I tried unplugging that because honestly why not try everything?Īnd they didn't solve my mouse problem either. That did what it was supposed to do (trackpad was indeed ignored) but did not solve my scrolling problem. Thinking maybe it was a trackpad issue, I went into the Accessibility settings and told it to ignore the trackpad when my wireless mouse is plugged in. Uninstalling Better Touch Tool (No luck there either) Problem persists when the wireless mouse (Logitech) is totally unplugged. Turning off my wireless mouse, because I thought maybe some dust had gotten in there and interfered with the sensor. The only fix is to restart my computer, and the problem has kept coming back. It doesn't matter which application I'm in - if the application will scroll to the left, it scrolls to the left. And then, wherever my pointer is, it scrolls that window to the left. Once in a while, my Macbook (16 inch 2019, running MacOS 10.15.7) decides I need to start scrolling pages to the left. Pointer is always scrolling sideways (Not a mouse issue!) Hi friends! What's the solution to the scrolling issue? Thanks a million! I'm sure I'm not the only one experiencing this, but since there aren't much articles related to this, I decided to write this in the hopes that a solution would be provided to address this problem. I don't know if there is a setting to enable this, but in the meantime, when I scroll and then let go, the scroll abruptly stops, and this is quite an issue. Except, when I tried that drill again (running (1) macOS, (2) then back to Windows, (3) then fidgeting with Vertical Settings), the smooth scrolling is no longer happening. Of course, I had mentioned that since there wasn't enough storage, so I had to re-install Windows by partitioning it this time with more storage (so that I could install basic apps like Chrome and Solidworks), so I re-installed Windows using Apple's article, and surely, the issue returned. There must be a way to enable such smooth scrolling in Windows Bootcamp because the first time I installed Windows Bootcamp, I had the same issue, however, miraculously, I got the smooth scrolling to work (what I did was that (1) I returned to MacOS, (2) then back to Windows, and (3) then fidgetted with the Vertical Scrolling settings and ended up with the settings below).

Now, I tried going to Control Panel under mouse settings and changing the Vertical Scrolling settings, but changing the settings doesn't seem to get that smooth scrolling to work. Instead, as I scroll, the moment I take my fingers off the trackpad, the scrolling abruptly comes to a stop (instead of continuing for 1 second at a decreasing rate) and, in effect, doesn't scroll as much as I'd wanted it to. However, this isn't happening in Windows Bootcamp. Smooth scrolling is when you take two fingers, drag them across the trackpad, say downwards, and indeed, the page will scroll downwards, but then the moment you let your fingers off the trackpad, the scrolling would continue for 1 more second and decelerate (slow down) to a stop. When scrolling (such as through articles in any web browser or application), I notice that the scrolling isn't smooth.

I recently re-installed Windows 10 using Bootcamp (the first time, I didn't partition it with enough storage, so I deleted that partition and re-installed Windows Bootcamp using Apple's article).
